Trinity has a new fun and easy way to relax – whether you’re creative, or just creative at heart, you can make a beautiful ceramic piece at Crack’d Pot.
Tina Hatch opened her ceramic studio Crack’d Pot, located off SR 54 behind Bonefish Grill in Trinity, on April 16. It is truly an entertainment hotspot for everyone from parents with their children, to birthday parties, to a date night out. Everything you need is supplied, and on hand to create an original piece of artwork – your very own masterpiece!
As you enter Crack’d Pot hundreds of bisque ware (pottery that has been fired, but not yet glazed) pieces line both sides of the studio. You can choose from trademark Disney characters such as Princess Tiana and Mickey to elegant vases, plates and tiles. On the bottom of each of the white pieces of bisque there is a price (even as low as five dollars). That price includes the pottery, your studio time, three glazes (Tina will be happy to exchange out more colors for you if they are needed), and firing. There are dozens of non-toxic and food-safe glaze colors to choose from, and for a few dollars extra you can use a specialty glaze
such as Crystal Lite, Elements or Jungle Jems which add bursts of colors or crackle finishes to your ceramic piece. If you think Crack’d Pot may
not be for you because you don’t consider yourself artistic, think again. Tina has a great selection of tools, stamps and stencils that make anyone who can hold a brush look like a professional. Crack’d Pot also has a great collection of idea books to spark your imagination, or you can customize your piece of art to match a décor or pattern by freehand. It’s also a great idea for personalized gifts for birthdays, weddings and as an alternative to award plaques or trophies. Tina explains, “It’s all about coming in, relaxing and having fun. You don’t need to know how to paint or have prior experience. People can come here to relax, listen
to music and chill. I want everyone to feel at home, like the saying, ‘Mi casa es su casa,’ but ‘Mi studio es su studio.’”
Cat Gilbert from Logo Dynamo has visited Crack’d Pot several times already. She says, “There’s something for everyone at Crack’d Pot. It’s good for amateurs and more advanced artists. Everything is tailored for different age levels, too. It’s not whether your pottery turns out perfectly, it’s that you made something of your own; it’s unique.”
Put the Art in Party
Painting parties are great for birthdays, Scout groups, ladies night out, school/camp field trips, office parties, bridal and baby showers. Party packages incl
ude two hours of studio time, and there are five packages to choose from, or Tina can help you customize your party. Crack’d Pot will help you get your party for six or more started, and even clean up after you. You can bring in food and for larger corporate parties (Christmas parties, for example) you can bring in
a caterer for the event and rent out the whole studio. There are five different party packages to choose from. Tiles for Tots are great for the little ones because tiles are like blank canvases allowing even the youngest artist to create a masterpiece. Mini Monets and Tween Torelli are both appropriate for children and teens to create a memorable piece of art from their party, and the Create-A-Critter party package is where children create a nosew bear or another cuddly creature during their party. The fifth package is adult parties, and like the twice monthly Diva Days and adult nights out, you can bring in your own beer
or wine to enjoy as you create your art.
Crack’d Pot also is a great fundraising idea. Tina takes 20 percent of the cost of what you purchase and puts it directly to your fundraiser (all non-profit organizations must provide a valid tax id form for donation purposes). You can then take the items that you created and sell or auction them off at your event to raise even more money for your charity. Tina’s plates with a ribbon embossed on them are a great option for fundraising because the ribbon can be
painted in the color that represents your organization, for example pink for breast cancer awareness or red for heart disease awareness. What a fun way to raise money for your non-for profit cause!
In less than a week after my family made our “masterpieces” at Crack’d Pot, Tina called to let us know they had been fired in the kiln and were ready to be picked up. It was like Christmas morning when we received our piggy bank and frog. The colors were shiny and vivid, and they are a memento of our summer. Most importantly Tina’s studio helped us create a great family experience.
